Richmond Gala–RRBA Engagement and Children’s Play Space
We are Richmond organised the inaugural Kids Play Area at Avebury Park for the first time and it was a success! This space was empty at previous fairs and we were asked to fill it with activities and organisations for tamariki. In attendance were the Fishing Section from Richmond Club, The Borough, children’s yoga and stalls from The Children’s Imagination Academy, Alpha Preschool, raffle by Pareawa Banks Avenue School, Shirley First Learners, Little Beans Preschool, Pop Up Party with their hireable play spaces, Ponies2Go, Christchurch Envirohub with their Stormwater Trailer, Christchurch Envirokids with their waste graveyard, Coffee Skills, and CCC’s Engagement Team regarding the upgrading of Avebury Park.
What a day it was! Activities for the kids, lots of smiling faces, and so much to see and do in the Kids Play Area and beyond.
We are Richmond/RRBA also had the chance to engage with the local community about their needs. We conversed with lots of residents and they voted on a dot matrix about what’s important to them in Richmond.
Avebury House had a local craft market, live music, Devonshire tea and scones and history inside, and there were information stalls across the gardens. There was a carboot sale with over 50 cars at the Riverlution Eco Hub area of the Richmond Community Garden. There were live music performances from local cultural groups, a sausage sizzle, and even a preserves competition with a few winners!
