Guest Speaker – Kathryn Jones – Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust
Kathryn discussed the services that Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust provides and the reason for their future plans to rebuild on 126 North Parade. She also discussed the Elmer’s Ōtautahi Elephant Trail (starting 24 November) running this summer across Christchurch to raise awareness and funding for the organisation. Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust will be at the Spring Fair on 21 October to answer any questions the public may have.
Current Activity Reports
Petrie Park – D. Duffy Community Board briefing. Further investigation into the quality of soil. The committee agreed to hold a Community Day/Planting in November.
Richmond Village Sign – Payments for 4 signs received. Waiting on Speedy Signs for final invoice to proceed.
Richmond Village Carpark – D. Duffy spoke at Community Board meeting last week. Council unable (unwilling) to help. Followed up with email to P. Cotter J. McLellan, and now waiting for response.
Shirley Intermediate Liaison – M. Adams – Subcommittee setup with many interested organisations.
Roading Report – C. Given. Cycleway submission. Greenways Cycle Path passed by Council. Richmond is a great example of community buy-in and initiation. Nicholls/Dudley street works imminent. Roadside reserve and landscape areas maintenance has improved in the area.

Community Led Development Programme/DIA – Further consultation with community planned at Spring Fair.
RCAN (Richmond Community Action Network) Meeting 29 August Feedback. Thirteen groups represented–this is the largest meeting hosted yet. DELTA (101 North Avon Road) offers many social services–Kainga Ora and MSD representatives available, budgeting and advocacy services, ESOL classes, foodbank, low cost cafe, elderly club, intellectually disabled activities programme.

Elections– Reinstate last year’s signs/distribute.
Spring Fair– Saturday 21 October. RRBA stall. Individual commitments/responsibilities. Staffing roster, display, co-hosting Kathryn (Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust), Brett Cooper (Shirley Intermediate Pool)
H. Guglietta to speak with Richmond Club regarding the status of their Commercial Shops, and discuss how We are Richmond views the loss of Sections Cafe as detrimental to activity on Stanmore Rd. Feedback.
Future of the role of Design and Website Maintenance. Seek new services. Move to hire a new provider R. Talyor/ C. Carter.
Shirley Village Project CLD Workshop Feedback – David/Rachel
Community Law Canterbury are running a legal workshop on the afternoon of Wednesday 6 December for our local community groups because a new law has been passed that applies to all incorporated societies.
Funding for Keep NZ Beautiful Awards–Richmond Community Garden. Help fund their trip to Wellington to attend awards ceremony? Formal capacity funding request from Richmond Community Garden is needed to consider any funding assistance.
