Petrie Park BBQ & Planting Event

Nov 23, 2023 | Active Richmond, Educate Richmond, Healthy Richmond, Heritage Richmond, RR&BA

What a fabulous community effort at our Petrie Park planting bbq on Tuesday!

Everyone helped chip in by digging into the earth and planting transitional plants, learning about the history of the park (including its former life as a bowling ground, demolished post-quake), having input into what they want in the park in the future by making 3D layouts using loose parts, and meeting neighbours.

Thank you to Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board Summer with Your Neighbours for sponsoring the bbq (and Emma Norrish – Waipapa Papanui Innes Central Community Board for coming out and getting your hands dirty!), Zealandia Horticulture and Rosanne for the plants, Bridget Allen Environmental Art for her landscape design, and Reuben Davidson for Christchurch East for helping with the planting.
