Red Zone Edge Housing Forum

Jun 8, 2026 | Active Richmond, Educate Richmond, Healthy Richmond, Heritage Richmond, RR&BA

We partnered with Avon Otakaro Network, Greening the Red Zone and Dallington Residents’ Association last Thursday night 4 June to run the Red Zone Housing Forum. It was well-attended with over 200 people. Guest speakers covered future Red Zone housing topics, then those attending (former red zone house owners, current residents living along the Red Zone borders or nearby) discussed and wrote down what should and shouldn’t be in the Red Zone edge housing areas.
We are gathering feedback to put in a community response to the RFI. There was an amazing outpouring of history, emotions, experiences, and future possibilities. Thanks to all that attended. Follow on Facebook for any future events.
Speakers included Hayley Guglietta from Avon-Ōtākaro Network, Greening the Red Zone founder and current ECan Counsellor, Ashley Campbell; Bebe Frayle from Dallington Residents’ Association; Riverlution Tiny Homes project representatives; Christchurch City Council‘s Red Zone Manager Dave Little; and Home Capital Partners speaker, James Stewart. Burwood Counsellor Kelly Barber and Rob Kerr, (who was with CERA at the time)was also present as a panel member during the Q&A
